Mongolia Update - Sept. 2007

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I hope this letter finds you well and that the past few months have been good to you! After an August of packing up my things and saying goodbyes to my friends and co-workers in Mongolia, I finally left Mongolia for Hawaii on 8/23. Though it was sad to say good bye, I am also excited to be back! It has been a refreshing past few weeks as I spent time resting, reflecting, and being with my family and friends.

As I look back on my time in Mongolia, there are so many thoughts, so many lessons, and so many things experienced. Though my time in Mongolia hasn't always been easy, your prayers and support for me have been such a great source of blessing and strength! Thank you for all of your faithful support and prayers these past two and a half years!

FCS
The end of the summer also marked the end of my official commitments to Mongolia's FCS college ministry and teaching at Ulaanbaatar University. Over the past two and a half years, we have seen many students hear the gospel and given their lives in following Jesus. This summer we completed our fourth GrX English summer camp. Though I usually help support the work of FCS-2, this year we worked with about 30 students from one of the other FCS chapters. It was a busy but very good two weeks as we built relationships with the students and shared God's love. The highlight of the camp was on the last night where we went on an overnight camping trip and had a campfire. It was an awesome time as the students shared their camp experiences and the incredible love of Jesus that they experienced through the camp and the FCS community. As the new semester begins, four of the new students from the camp have came back and signed up for Bible studies to learn more about Jesus and Christianity! Praise the Lord!

Ulaanbaatar University
In June, I was both sad and happy to see another group of my students graduate. However, after graduation, I was able to go on a camping trip with them for a couple of days in the countryside. It was good time for me to just hang out with my students, have fun, and share our memories from these past couple of years. Though some of my students were often quiet and reserved, I was glad that in this environment, I was able to have some deeper conversations with them about their life, their future, and share with them one last time the Good News of Jesus.

As my time at UB University ends, the Lord has also provided others in continuing the ministry to the teachers and students at our school. One of the people that God has provided is Eva, who is a missionary from Hong Kong. She also has a heart for reaching Mongolian college students and this past semester, we co-lead an English Bible study for students from our school. I have also been mentoring her this past semester in teaching classes and working with the college students and teachers. She has such a passion for talking about the Bible and spiritual things and I am so thankful for God's continued provision.

What's Next…
After soaking in the warm Hawaiian sun, I will be coming to California on 9/19 and spending a couple of weeks in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. I am planning to use this time to continue to rest physically and in reflection and debrief of my experiences in Mongolia. I am also looking forward to meeting, reconnecting, and spending time with friends and supporters. I am hoping to be renewed and refreshed spiritually as well as physically, and to encourage and be encouraged through my interactions. Though I don’t know what exactly God will lead me to do next, I am hoping this time of reflection and spiritual refreshment will help me to better hear and discern His leading.

I hope all is well with you! If you are around, please let me know. I would love to hear how you are doing and meet up with as many of you as I possibly can. Currently, I have no home address. However, if you would like to reach me by phone, you can call me at: (408) 667-0865

God bless and I look forward to hearing from you!
-Chun
